This Weekend at DAC in Denmark, Maine!

This Weekend at DAC!

In this week's issue: Just For Fun and The Dam Jam!
The summer is in full-speed as our kid's camps and artist workshops are in top gear and we're heading even closer to the Dam Jam! Our Program Assistant Harry is back from his adventures in Utah and the DAC is united in gleeful, sweaty, hard-working bliss. Hard work is a staple at the Denmark Arts Center and it is all for you, our fateful member and patron. We're pleased to know our staff and volunteers are doing a good job with all the positive feedback we've received over the past few weeks (including a $2,000 anonymous donation). That anonymous donation, by the way, saved the DAC from certain disaster when our air-conditioner was busted and we were fated to endure the endless humidity that is New England summers.

Remember to buy your tickets for the DAM JAMhere, and for the PORTLANDERS, buy your tickets for our magic-mystery bus - you don't wanna lose your seat!

Just For Fun

w/ Mainestage Readers Theater
Thursday thru Saturday
July 18 - 20

Come celebrate the Mainestage Readers Theatre’s 21st birthday with a glass of wine, a loaf of bread, and laughter, as they present their new-for-2013 show,Just for Fun.  A collection of jokes, skits, and we’d-rather-not-says, the MSRT style has found its place in Denmark as surely as mosquitoes, bare-feet, and sand in your shoes.  Their let’s-laugh-at-ourselves show is the perfect recipe for a mid-summer evening with friends in the air-conditioned comfort of the DAC. Directed by Penny Morris, Brian Grennan, and Allene Westleigh.

NEED CORNER!

Plug Corner is on hiatus this week and her younger sister Need Corner is in its place.
As you may be aware, the DAC is a non-profit and therefore runs on the kind donations of those who enjoy our programming. Next weekend our annual water-front music festival, THE DAM JAM, unspools on the banks of Moose Pond in Bicentennial Park, across from the arts center in Denmark, ME. However, in order to be successful, the Dam Jam needs a few essentials (to borrow or otherwise):
  1. Pop-Up Tents:Farmers' Market-style tents for our many booths
  2. Water Pistols:Something wet and fun to keep the children busy in the hot summer heat
  3. Air Mattresses: A slice of Denmark-heaven for hardened musicians to lay their tired heads
These and any other donations will be greatly appreciated! If you would like to donate, email jamie@denmarkarts.org or call us at
