Lakeview Facility Has Troubled Past

EFFINGHAM, New Hampshire - Starting in 1992 when the Lakeview Neurorehabilitation hospital was owned by the now defunct New Medico group and known as Highwatch, the neurorehab has had a troubled past. 21 years ago under the suspicion of insurance fraud, the for-profit facility was raided by the FBI with medical and billing records confiscated. Soon afterward Highwatch was purchased and has operated since that time by Lakeview Management, Inc. Many of its officers share a 'history' with the former New Medico management. At least one current Lakeview employee, administrator David Armstrong was employed by New Medico.
Earlier this summer, after a WMUR News9 investigative report was aired, Lakeview management assured the public and town officials that changes were in the works to remedy Lakeviews numerous deficits. Lack of secure management practices  apparent in the latest news report by The Daily Sun's Daymond Steer, have brought renewed calls for either the center's closure or that it be managed by a non-profit corporation like Northern Human Services in Conway, New Hampshire.

Below are news articles chronicling some of the healthcare center's troubles.
