FRYEBURG, Maine - The weather didn't cooperate but a lot of fun was had by all who attended the ''not so annual'' Soups On soup fest today at Eastern Slopes Regional Airport in ''Bob's Hangar''. The crowd enjoyed six kinds of soups and a table full of sweet deserts, coffee, iced tea and soda. This reporter didn't arrive until the end of the gathering at 2:00 p.m. but the hanger was still packed.
I spoke with Connie Myers who organized the event. She didn't care too much for the the change in the weather(it was forecast to be partly cloudy) but she was very pleased with the turn-out.
David Cullinan, the airport manager was my next interviewee. We continued our conversation that we had during the Airport Authority's October board of directors meeting. We discussed the next airport capital improvement project; the new airport terminal. Plans have not be finalized as yet but the project could be completed sometime in 2015 or 2016 depending on when it is funded.

David also told Fryeburg Free Press that there are a few unfilled positions on the airport's board of directors. Brownfield's is now represented but Bridgton isn't, as well as a few other towns in the region. You can contact the airport or the Town of Fryeburg for more information.
As FBO (Fixed Base Operator) Mary Build told me when I spoke to her the previous week, ''Flying is fun, flying is affordable and it's never too late to learn. Come see us for a discovery flight and see for yourself.'' I 'highly' recommend it, because I will be going up for mine in the very near future and I don't want anyone else to miss out on an opportunity to find out about something that most people only dream about. If God didn't want us to fly, he wouldn't have given us Orville and Wilbur Wright!
