Food & Water Watch's long-term mission is to challenge
the economic (Capitalism) and political forces (Democracy)
that are promoting industrialized (Corporate)
food production and the 'commodification' (Food &Water Watch has chosen this code word well; to wit: The Marxist understanding
of commodity is distinct from the meaning of commodity in mainstream business
theory. Commodity played a key role throughout Karl Marx' life work, he
considered it a form of capitalism and a key starting point for an analysis of
this politico-economic system) of the oceans and fresh water
sources.

Wenonah Hauter, Executive Director of Food & Water Watch |
Food & Water Watch is an organization that is decidedly
anti-corporate, anti-democratic and anti-capitalistic. It would follow then
that Food & Watch Watch stands for the opposites of these three things:
•
The antithesis of Capitalism is
Marxism.
•
The antithesis of the Corporate
Model is the Collective Model.
•
The antithesis of Democracy is
Communism.
That is about as clear as I can make it. I will sum up a
little later. Communism is also anti-freedom. Democracy and capitalism mean freedom. This is why Capitalism is by far the best economic system
in human history and why America is absolutely the premier political-economic powerhouse on our planet. Do not let the current
political cycle, administration or economic conditions fool you. America as
imperfect as it is and has been has and is now the world's savior. Since the mending of
the country after the Civil War, American took the lead during the industrial
revolution and never looked back.
''This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.''
- Benjamin Franklin
And this is the ''how and why'' of the ways and means of
capital:
Paraphrasing Napoleon Hill. On news programs we hear
politicians blathering and bloviating about freedom when they ask for our vote
but they never take the time to explain or analyze the source or nature of this
'freedom'. Mitt Romney came as close as any in doing this but even he fell
short. There is a mysterious 'something' or abstract that allows every citizen
of this great nation more blessings and more opportunity to accumulate great
wealth than any other country. It is an unseen and unrecognized power. It is
capital! Capital is not just money but it is also intelligent, talent and ability in
groups of people who plan ways and means of using money efficiently for the good of
the public and profitability for themselves. These groups of people consist of
scientists, inventors, educators, chemists, business analysts, attorneys,
physicians and those who have highly specialized knowledge in all fields of
industry and business. They organize this creative power. They work to improve life for all of us. They are the pioneers
that experiment, blaze new trails in new fields of enterprise and endeavor.
They support hospitals, universities, build roads, publish newspapers and manage
multi-media outlets. They pay most of the cost of government. They take care of uncountable
essential details of human progress. To be succinct, capitalists are the brains
of civilization, because they supply the
entire matrix of which all education, enlightenment and human progress
consists.
I am discussing this for two reasons:
I am discussing this for two reasons:
- All of you who enjoy freedom and seek wealth must recognize and adapt yourselves to the system that controls all approaches fortunes, large and small.
- And to counter the politicians and social activists who believe that capitalism is evil when in fact the opposite is true.
The economic system in The United States of America is capitalism. This country was developed through the use of capital and we who claim the right to have and receive the blessings of freedom, opportunity, we who who seek to accumulate wealth and riches must understand that neither wealth or the opportunity would be available to us if organized capital had not provided these benefits.
There is only one reasonable, dependable way of accumulating and legally holding wealth - by rendering useful service. No other system has been devise by which people can legally acquire wealth - period.
In short, America provides all the freedom and all the opportunity to build and increase wealth that an ethical, honest person may require.
Returning now to the main purpose of this editorial, to answer the questions - Who & What is Food & Water Watch? I have answered that several paragraphs ago. They are the antithesis of what is good about America - the opposite of free enterprise, democracy and the freedom to create wealth. They are in league with the successor of the League of Nations, the United Nations. An organization that itself is against free enterprise and democracy. Many will dispute this but don't be fooled once again but an organization that hides its true, evil agenda behind the skirt of mother nature. Food & Water Watch, the United Nations and other NGOs are using climate change and the possibility of a global, potable water shortage as a weapon to take away your freedoms, not only in America but globally as well. Why? That is another op/ed.
In conclusion. I appeared on a news program called The Stream last week to speak about free enterprise in my small New England town of Fryeburg, Maine. There wasn't enough time to speak to these very important issues that go to the heart of what The United States of America stands for - Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Food & Watch Watch has used my town as a political football to push their disingenuous, underhanded and hidden socialist agenda by trying to drive a wedge between the people of Fryeburg and thereby drive out an important partner in our local economy. Poland Spring/Nestle Waters North America. By doing this, they have pushed away other quality businesses, essentially hindering them and/or keeping them from doing business in our town. The Food & Water Watch group has an agenda that is anti-business and therefor is anti-American. What does that mean? You know what that means. More to come.
