Fryeburg Historical Society Open. The Col. Samuel Osgood House, the new home of the Fryeburg Historical Society, is open for guided tours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Saturdays through Christmas. Groups are asked to call ahead for an appointment at 697-3484.
Volunteer Trail Day. Jackson Ski Touring Foundation trail work with trail crew. Dinner Honoring Tyler Palmer. The New England Ski Museum's presentation of its Spirit of Skiing award to U.S. Olympic and pro skier and honored member of the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame Tyler Palmer is tonight at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets to the event are still available at $65 per person from the ski museum at (603) 823-7177.
Penny Sale. Ossipee Concerned Citizens, Inc. and Day Care will hold a penny sale at the Ossipee Town Hall. Ticket sales are 3-5 p.m.; $2.50 for 25 tickets. The drawing is at 5 p.m. Refreshments for sale. The event benefits the Ossipee Santa Project.
Fire Safety Program. Members of the Effingham Fire Department (and a fire engine!) will visit the Effingham Public Library at 10:30 a.m. to talk about fire safety. 'Stonewalls and Cellar Holes of Fryeburg' Nature Program.Teacher/naturalist Carol Foord will lead a fascinating exploration from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through Fryeburg, Maine to uncover the history of the Saco River Valley through local stone works. Meet at the Fryeburg Visitor Center. We will journey from 1725-1825 visiting Lovewell’s monument, a slave’s grave, Frye’s cellar hole, Molly Ockett’s cave, and other unique stonework sites. Dress warm, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and snacks. Call 447-6991 for reservations. Tin Mountain Nature Programs are sponsored by L.L. Dollar A Bag Sale. The Thrift Shop of the Lovell United Church of Christ on Route 5 in Center Lovell, Maine will hold a dollar a bag sale, Saturday, Oct.12, through Saturday, Nov.2. Shop hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
Benefit Dinner And Raffle For Bobbi-Jean Perreault. A benefit dinner and raffle for Bobbi-Jean Perreault will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brownfield Recreation Center. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Due to an injury to her back, she and has been out of work for some time. There will be good food and tons of raffles. Friends Of Freedom Library Meeting. The Friends of Freedom Public Library will hold their annual meeting this at 10 a.m. at the library. The friends support the library in a number of very important ways including providing volunteers, leading special events, organizing lectures and providing funds to the library for the Summer Reading Program, books, museum memberships and much more. The Friends are always looking for new people to get involved, even if you only have a small amount of time to give. All are welcome to attend the meeting this Saturday to learn more about what is going on.
Vox One Concert. The award-winning, internationally renowned a cappella jazz quintet, Vox One will be performing at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center located at 18 Bradley Street, Fryeburg, Maine on the campus of Fryeburg Academy at 7:30 p.m. The eight-time state champion Fryeburg Academy Vocal Jazz Ensemble will accompany Vox One during the show.
