Bartlett Recreation Department Benefit. There will be a fund-raising event for Bartlett Recreation, 4-11 p.m. at Shannon Door Pub There will be raffle prizes and the restaurant will donate $1 for every pizza sold to Bartlett Recreation Department.
e-Gadget Users' Group. An e-gadget users' group meets at 5 pm at the Madison Public Library. Meet with other gadget users (tablet, smartphone, laptop, e-reader, GPS, etc.) to share tips, tricks, apps, and reviews of various technology devices. Call 367-8545 for more information.
Learn about the Health Insurance Marketplace. Madison Public Library will host an information session on the Health Insurance Marketplace at 6 pm in the John F. Chick Room at the library. Mary Jane Jarrett, Healthcare Navigator from White Mountain Community Health Center, will give an overview of the Health Insurance Marketplace, explain how to learn your plan options, describe what to expect for the enrollment process, and list the information to collect ahead of time in order to streamline the process. Lakes Region Genealogy Interest Group. The Lakes Region Genealogy Interest Group will hold their November meeting at the Wolfeboro Public Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a question and answer session. At 7 p.m. Donald Stephenson will present a program on "Keeping Journals: Part of Our Family History." The program is free and open to all. The Lakes Region Genealogy Interest Group presents free workshops at the Wolfeboro Public Library on a monthly basis. You do not have to be a member of the Interest Group to attend the programs; however the Group is looking for new participants. Book Discussion. Take an armchair trip to India, captured in all its pungent, vivid glory, while losing yourself in a tale of a fascinating crime with the White Birch Books Mystery Book Club. The group will meet on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the bookstore at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Case of the Missing Servant" by Tarquin Hall, The group is open to anyone interested. Using KOHA. Jackson Public Library holds an informal class on using the new on-line library catalog, Koha, at 2 p.m. at the library. The class is free and open to the public. You will learn how to log in to your account so you can see what you have out, renew items, place holds on items, update your information, create lists and tags. 'The Magic Roller Coaster.' Arts in Motion Theater Company is presenting a whirlwind tour of musical history with its original production of "The Magic Roller Coaster" at 7 p.m. at the historic Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse. 'Growth, Function and Aging of Trees' Nature Course. Tin Mountain executive director and forest ecologist Dr. Michael Cline will present nature course "Growth, Function and Aging of Trees," a two-part course, beginning on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Nature Center in Albany followed by a field trip to the woods on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn how trees get to be the largest organisms on earth and the manner in which we can unlock the past by reading their annual growth rings.The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. North Conway Model Railroad Club Open House. North Conway Model Railroad Club holds a public open house every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from May to Oct. 18 between 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the club's operating HO layout located in the Freight House at Conway Scenic Railroad's yard in North Conway.  The club’s 500 square-foot layout features selectively compressed replicas ofConway Scenic Railroad’s North Conway station and yard, Frankenstein trestle and Crawford’s station in Crawford Notch.Other features include a logging railroad, a large paper mill complex, a granite quarry, and a seaport city with a large steamship tied up at a pier.Mainline operations are conducted over a full length upper level loop and a shorter lower level loop.  Additional trains are operated over a logging branch, a trolley line and a special section of track devoted to Thomas the Tank Engine. As many as seven trains operate concurrently.   All operations are conducted by an all-volunteer crew.Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted.

Support For Veterans Who Have Served In A Theater Of Combat. The Berlin Vet Center Offers free mental health counseling for combat theater veterans and/or their families every Thursday in North Conway. The Vet Centers are a community-based part of the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs, with the goal of providing a broad range of counseling, outreach and referral services to eligible veterans to help them make a satisfying readjustment of post war life. Eligible veterans include service members who have served in a theater of combat or who experienced sexual trauma/harassment in the military. The center also provides bereavement/grief counseling, for the family of service member who died while on active duty status. Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry. The Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry at Chocorua Community Church meets every first and third Thursday of the month, 6-7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to knit prayer patches for soldiers and prayer shawls for the sick. Bring No. 11 knitting needles and three or four skeins of yarn. Chocorua Church is located on Route 113, east of Route 16 near Runnells Hall.

Clinical Pharmacist Available for Veterans. On the first Thursday of the month there will be a clinical pharmacist available at the Conway Community-Based Outpatient Clinic to speak with veterans regarding their medications. Appointments will be scheduled between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A clinical referral is required to meet with the pharmacist. Interested veterans should speak with their VA Primary Care Provider.

Medicare Counselors. The N.H. State Health Insurance Program (NHSHIP) certified Medicare counselors are available at the Gibson Center for Senior Services in North Conway for anyone who may have questions about their Medicare benefits. Survivors of Suicide Support Group. Vaughn Community Services Inc. will be sponsoring a survivors of suicide support group, the second Thursday of every month, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Reverence for Life building at 2503 White Mountain Highway in North Conway. Those who have been affected by the suicide of a loved one are not alone. This group looks to bring this subject out of the shadows and provide a safe place to share stories and begin healing. Music at Mount Washington Valley Children's Museum.Mountain Top Music Center in Conway offers a free pre-school music class for babies, 9:30-10 a.m. This class is free. Babies from birth through 18 months of age play interactive games involving familiar songs, rhymes, and rhythms. Music for toddlers is offered 10:15-11 a.m.; the cost is $8. Children and their caregivers dance, play rhythm instruments, sing, and play games using familiar songs. This class stimulates musical and cognitive development. Call 447-4737 to register.
