Huggins Hospital Community Forum. Huggins Hospital is holding a community forum Nov. 7 at the Ossipee Town Hall at 55 Main Street from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The forum is an opportunity to hear directly from Michael Connelly, President and CEO of Huggins Hospital, about the changing landscape of the health care industry and the impact on Huggins Hospital. There will be time for questions and for community members to openly share their thoughts and ideas about the hospital. Kennett Middle School Drama Club to Perform Comedy Sketches. The Kennett Middle School Drama Club will perform comedy sketches  today at 7:30 p.m. in the school's lecture hall auditorium. Admission is free. Call 447-6364, Ext. 21 for more information.
North Country Camera Club. The North Country Camera Club meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from September thru June in the Lecture Hall at the Kennett Middle School in Conway (use back door — plenty of parking — follow the NCCC signs). Doors open at 6:30 p.m., meeting starts at 7 p.m. sharp. This week's program will be a lecture by Jay Philbrick entitled "Concept Photography." Dollars for Scholars Phonathon.  Kennett Key Club members will ask for donations for scholarships for area students, 5:30 to 7p.m..This is an all volunteer, all local event.
Story Time. Jackson Public Library holds story time, stories, songs and a craft for toddlers & preschoolers at 10:30 a.m.
Blood Drive. The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway on Thursday, Nov. 7. The event is sponsored by The Knights of Columbus and Subway in Intervale. Each presenting donor will receive a coupon for a free six-inch sub from Subway. Donor hours are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and donors with all blood types are needed at this time. Appointments are recommended. Putting Ossipee Common Garden To Bed. The community is invited to assist with putting the Ossipee Common Garden on Route 16B to bed for the winter season, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Volunteers should bring a lunch, or money to purchase lunch from Windy Fields Farm, work gloves and sturdy shoes. Gothic Victorian Tales By Candlelight. Rita Parisi from Waterfall Productions will present Gothic Victorian Tales by Candlelight at Freedom Town Hall in Freedom on Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. This theatrical presentation will feature stories about curses, death and immortality from the 19th century New England writer, Sarah Orne Jewett. Support/Social Group for Working Families. There will be a new support/social group for working families hosted by Rustik Baby from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This is currently the only inclusive group in the valley for working families - moms, dads, caregivers, grandparents, etc. Future dates based on interest level. North Country Camera Club. The North Country Camera Club meets the second and fourth Thursday of every month, September through June. North Conway Model Railroad Club Open House. North Conway Model Railroad Club holds a public open house every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from May to Oct. 18 between 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the club's operating HO layout located in the Freight House at Conway Scenic Railroad's yard in North Conway.  The club’s 500 square-foot layout features selectively compressed replicas ofConway Scenic Railroad’s North Conway station and yard, Frankenstein trestle and Crawford’s station in Crawford Notch.Other features include a logging railroad, a large paper mill complex, a granite quarry, and a seaport city with a large steamship tied up at a pier.Mainline operations are conducted over a full length upper level loop and a shorter lower level loop.  Additional trains are operated over a logging branch, a trolley line and a special section of track devoted to Thomas the Tank Engine. As many as seven trains operate concurrently.   All operations are conducted by an all-volunteer crew.Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted.

Civil Air Patrol.

Support For Veterans Who Have Served In A Theater Of Combat. The Berlin Vet Center Offers free mental health counseling for combat theater veterans and/or their families every Thursday in North Conway. The Vet Centers are a community-based part of the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs, with the goal of providing a broad range of counseling, outreach and referral services to eligible veterans to help them make a satisfying readjustment of post war life. Eligible veterans include service members who have served in a theater of combat or who experienced sexual trauma/harassment in the military. The center also provides bereavement/grief counseling, for the family of service member who died while on active duty status.  An Overeater's Anonymous Step meeting takes place on Thursdays, 5:15-6:15 p.m. at Fryeburg New Church, 12 Oxford Street, Fryeburg Maine.

Rising From The Book. Rising from the Book (an adult read aloud group) meets, 4-4:30 p.m., on Thursdays in November and December. On Dec. 8 and 15 the featured book will be Dickens' "Christmas Carol."

Adult Open Gym. Ossipee Recreation holds an adult open gym time Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m., at Ossipee Town Hall.

Exercise At The Gibson Center. The Gibson Center offers a chair exercise class for those who need assistance getting in and out of the car or a chair, Mondays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. at the Gibson Center. Belly Dance Class is held Thursdays at 9 a.m. at the Gibson Center.

White Mountain Amateur Radio Club Meeting. White Mountain Amateur Radio Club meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Ham Room at Conway Public Library. Food Pantry. Vaughan Community Service, Inc. at 2031 White Mountain Highway in North Conway has a food pantry open 1:30-3 p.m.

Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry. The Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry at Chocorua Community Church meets every first and third Thursday of the month, 6-7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to knit prayer patches for soldiers and prayer shawls for the sick. Bring No. 11 knitting needles and three or four skeins of yarn. Chocorua Church is located on Route 113, east of Route 16 near Runnells Hall.

Clinical Pharmacist Available for Veterans. On the first Thursday of the month there will be a clinical pharmacist available at the Conway Community-Based Outpatient Clinic to speak with veterans regarding their medications. Appointments will be scheduled between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A clinical referral is required to meet with the pharmacist. Interested veterans should speak with their VA Primary Care Provider.

Medicare Counselors. The N.H. State Health Insurance Program (NHSHIP) certified Medicare counselors are available at the Gibson Center for Senior Services in North Conway for anyone who may have questions about their Medicare benefits. Survivors of Suicide Support Group. Vaughn Community Services Inc. will be sponsoring a survivors of suicide support group, the second Thursday of every month, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Reverence for Life building at 2503 White Mountain Highway in North Conway. Those who have been affected by the suicide of a loved one are not alone. This group looks to bring this subject out of the shadows and provide a safe place to share stories and begin healing. Music at Mount Washington Valley Children's Museum.Mountain Top Music Center in Conway offers a free pre-school music class for babies, 9:30-10 a.m. This class is free. Babies from birth through 18 months of age play interactive games involving familiar songs, rhymes, and rhythms. Music for toddlers is offered 10:15-11 a.m.; the cost is $8. Children and their caregivers dance, play rhythm instruments, sing, and play games using familiar songs. This class stimulates musical and cognitive development. Call 447-4737 to register.
