AARP Smart Driver Program. The Gibson Center is sponsoring the AARP Smart Driver Program from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Gibson Center, on Main Street, in North Conway. The entire course will be held in one day. A lunch break will be taken. Participants can bring a lunch or have lunch in the Gibson Center dining room. Participants may be eligible for a discount on their automobile insurance. AARP volunteer instructor Dan Andrews of Jackson will be presenting this course through a combination of group discussion and video. Daughters Of The American Revolution Meeting. Members of the Anna Stickney Chapter Daughters Of The American Revolution will meet at the 1785 Inn for a business meeting at 11 a.m.. Ribbon Cutting For Miranda Center At Memorial Hospital. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at The Miranda Center at Memorial Hospital in North Conway. The Miranda Center at Memorial Hospital is located on the second floor of the Bigelow Building, the white building towards the front of the campus. An elevator is available for the public. The public is welcome to come and meet the staff of the diabetes team; learn more about the Miranda Center and Diabetes Awareness Month; meet the Family of Miranda Leavitt. The center is named for Miranda Leavitt, who was was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 12, and died from complications of the disease at 22. She was an advocate speaking out on the subject of diabetes. In 2008, with the help of friends and family, the Leavitts started the non-profit organization, Miranda Leavitt Diabetes Fund, focused on providing funding for those who need help managing their diabetes and providing a voice for education and advocacy on the subject.
Free Training On The Energy Tracking Tool Portfolio Manager. Volunteers at Carroll County United, an initiative of Granite United Way, have arranged for Linda Darveau of the USEPA to conduct free training sessions with Energy Star Portfolio Manager, measure the energy performance, water use, utility costs, and greenhouse gas emissions of more than 40 percent of the nation's commercial building space, today in Conway and Wolfeboro. The morning session will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Granite State College, 53 Technology Way, Conway, NH 03818. Diabetes Support Group. A diabetes support group meets the first Wednesday of every month, 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Memorial Hospital. Gibson Center Events: Play Wii — practice your golf swing, your tennis game, or get a strike bowling, every Wednesday at the Gibson Center, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Game Day is also every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Gibson Center; patrons meet to play bridge, Scrabble, cribbage, canasta, rummy or board games. North Conway Ambulance Blood Pressure Clinics are held the last Wednesday of the month, 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the Gibson Center.
Eastman-Lord House Museum. The Conway Historical Society's Eastman-Lord House Museum is open for guided tours from Memorial Day to Labor Day on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. and on  Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and by appointment from May through October. The 1818, Federal Home of The William K. Eastman Family was later occupied by the George A. Heath family and from 1900 to 1967 by the Eben Lord family. Rooms are decorated in periods from 1818 to 1945. There is no charge for admission, but donations are accepted. Groups of more than six people should call ahead to insure that enough guides are on hand. The Museum is located in Conway village, on Route 16, across from the fire station. Thrift Shop In Fryeburg. The thrift shop at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Fryburg, Maine is open from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The shop has low prices, brand names, gently used clothing, household items, holiday specials.

Care for the Caregiver Support Group. The Care for the Caregiver Support Group is a leader-facilitated support group for caregivers that will meet at the Gibson Center on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Participants will receive information on how to build self-care into their caregiving role. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Meetings. TOPS, a non-profit, inexpensive weight-loss support group, meets every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Ossipee Concerned Citizens Building at 3 Dore Street in Center Ossipee. Weigh-ins take place privately before the meeting at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $2. Androscoggin Ranger District Educational Programs. The Androscoggin Ranger District of the White Mountain National Forest invites residents and visitors to enjoy free programming each Wednesday and Saturday evening in July and August. The Wednesday Night with a Ranger series will take place on Wednesdays at the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Pinkham Notch Visitor Center at 8 p.m. The Dolly Copp Campground series will be at the historic Civilian Conservation Corps visitor center inside the campground at 7 p.m. Programs are approximately one hour in length and include time for conversation about the evening’s topic or any other National Forest issue. Programs are made possible by the White Mountains Interpretive Association, a non-profit organization that promotes and funds historic, scientific, educational and interpretive programs on the White Mountain National Forest. Community String Band For Adults. Seth Austen leads a community string band for adults from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for beginners. Learn to play traditional New England, Appalachian, and Celtic music. Repertoire includes reels, jigs, hornpipes, hoedowns, rags, marches, and waltzes and explore the roles of different instruments in a string band and how to create harmonies, accompaniments, and arrangements. Tunes are taught by ear, but written music can be provided. Attendees should have basic playing skills on their instruments. Class not limited to stringed instruments. Bridgton Moms Group. Moms are invited to meet with other moms and babies to share joys and frustrations, and some good adult company. Developmental Playgroup. Family Centered Early Supports & Services (FCESS) offers a developmental parent/child playgroup for infant and toddlers in Wolfeboro from 9 to 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church. This group is free of charge and will be held on the third and fourth Wednesdays each month. The playgroup is lead by an experienced Early Childhood Professional, who facilitates creative, child-centered activities that promote the development of children’s gross and fine motor skills, language, thinking/problem solving abilities, and social interactions.
