at the Eastern Slope Inn
Playhouse, home of
We are offering the perfect
opportunity to share the holiday spirit with family and friends as we bring a
favorite Christmas story to the stage!
“It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” by Joe
Landry was inspired by the classic American film by Frank Capra and performed as
a 1940’s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. The setting is
Christmas Eve, 1946, on stage at WBFR Studio in New York. Five actors perform
the dozens of characters in the radio play with two foley actors producing the
many live sound effects from George and Mary breaking the windows of the old
Granville house, to train whistles and the wind howling, to Clarence’s jump into
the river. The play is performed without intermission and runs approximately 90
minutes.
It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
is directed by Barbara Spofford and features the talents of local actors
Julianne Brosnan, Jason Cicero, Teresa Dyer, Tom Ferent, David Freedman, Terry
Juell French, Dennis Sullivan and Abigail Leonard.
“This is a lovely way to kickstart the
holiday season,” said Paula Jones of Arts in Motion. “The heartwarming tale of
George Bailey, Clarence, the Angel and all the folks of Bedford Falls is such a
beloved story and, as in the movie, we learn that “no man is a
failure who has friends”. It is a truly wonderful reminder of what this season
is all about. From the stage, to the theater, to the lobby the Playhouse will be
filled with the Christmas spirit for all to enjoy. Also, additional heating has
recently been installed for a more comfortable visit during the winter months.”
