THINGS TO DO TODAY DECEMBER 31, 2013 New Year's Eve!


Contra Dance. The Tamworth Outing Club is sponsoring a New Year's Eve contra dance at the Tamworth Town House. The time is 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The club is enthusiastic about having families and children are welcome. The rate for a family is $15; adults $7. People are asked to bring snacks to share. 'Fire on the Mountain.' A film documenting the 10th Mountain Division, America's only mountain and winter warfare fighting unit will be shown at 8 p.m. at the Appalachian Mountain Club Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. The thrilling story of these rugged, courageous men in all their glory. The program is free and open to the public. AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center is on Route 16 in Pinkham Notch. Cranapalooza And Fireworks. Cranmore Mountain Resort holds Cranapalooza at the base of Cranmore Mountain, with family fun including Ryan St. Onge playing music in the pub, Bobo-T-Clown performing tricks, and fireworks at 6:30 p.m.
Fireworks In North Conway. Community Celebrations presents fireworks in North Conway's Schouler Park at 9:30 p.m. to ring in the New Year.
Fireworks At King Pine. King Pine Resort in East Madison invites families to ring in the New Year with music, games and kids events, a torchlight parade at 9 p.m. and fireworks at 9:20 p.m.
North Conway Public Library Closed. The Library will also be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Regular hours will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2, 12-6 p.m. Regular hours for the library are: Monday and Tuesday noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday noon to 6 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m. For more information, please call the library at 356-2961.
Effingham Public Library Closed. The Effingham Public Library will close at 4pm today for New Year’s Eve.
Conway Public Library Closes Early. The Conway Public Library closes at 1 p.m. today and is closed on Jan. 1, 2014 in celebration of the New Year. Regular hours resume Thursday, Jan. 2. For more information call 447-5552.
Wolfeboro First Night 2014. Wolfeboro First Night celebration, which begins at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and continues into the wee hours of Jan. 1, 2014 in downtown Wolfeboro.  To join the festivities all revelers have to do is display a First Night button ($10 through Dec. 30 and $15 on Dec. 31.) The button gains admittance to all eight public venues and more than two-dozen events and performances. Children under 10 years old are admitted free with a button-wearing adult. A highlight of the event promises to be the 8 p.m. parade of First Night Puppets followed by a new half-hour fireworks display over Wolfeboro Bay presented by Hell’s Gate.
