A White Mountain Christmas Concert. In Search of Kawagarbo: The High, Unclimbed Peaks of China's Yunnan Province. Join photographer and climber Alexander Cohen for a presentation on climbing in China at 8 p.m. at the Appalachian Mountain Club Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. Kawagarbo (6,740m / 22,112 ft),is considered the holy mountain to Tibetan Buddhists. Kawagarbo is known either as a warrior god or home to a warrior god, depending on how you see it. Miacimu to the south is his female consort. The 1991 attempt to summit the mountain was in January of that year, hoping to find more stable climbing conditions. An avalanche killed either 17 or 18 members of the team in their sleep. Climbing the peaks was made illegal soon afterward. The program is free and open to the public. Christmas and Holiday Celebrations in Ossipee. Ossipee Recreation Department presents a day of holiday celebrations at the Ossipee Town Hall. The day begins with the annual Breakfast With Santa from 9-11 a.m. Admission is $3 and will include a light breakfast, a visit and photo with Santa, and a small craft. The day will conclude with the annual Community Christmas in Ossipee Celebration from 5-8 p.m. this event includes a potluck dinner (please a "potluck" item to share-meal of dessert), live music featuring String Equinox, door prizes, and horse-drawn hay wagon rides thorium Center Ossipee Village. Snowmobile Safety Course. A Snowmobile Safety Course is offered for youth ages 14 and older, at the Ossipee Public Library from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. There is no cost but registration is limited to a maximum of 20. In New Hampshire OHRV operators must possess a safety certificate or a valid driver's license. This course includes proper operation and care of the machine, basic operations, safe riding skills, appropriate clothing, outdoor survival skills, and medical self-help. Landowner relations, environmental considerations, and multiple use trails will also be discussed. Participants need to bring a notepad, pen, lunch, and their riding gear. A written exam and field test are required. This is done in cooperation with the N.H. Fish and Game Department. Brain Savignano is the instructor. A Cappella Gold At Jackson Public Library. The Friends of the Jackson Public Library host A Cappella Gold as they perform a concert of Christmas songs at the Jackson Public Library at 7 p.m. The program ranges from familiar songs like "The Little Drummer Boy" and not-so-familiar settings of English and German Christmas carols to an African spiritual and an irreverent offering by PDQ Bach, as well as a sing along on familiar Christmas carols. Civil Air Patrol Wreaths Across America Event. Members of Civil Air Patrol's Wylie Apte Cadet Squadron are partnering with Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization that recognizes U.S. military veterans who have guarded and preserved America's freedom, by placing remembrance wreaths on the graves of the fallen during the year-end holiday season. A ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the North Conway Cemetery with the wreath laying beginning at noon. Seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed in honor of each of the armed forces, the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard as well as the Merchant Marines and a special wreath honoring POWs and MIAs. Following that, any wreaths that have been sponsored by the public will be laid on local veterans graves at the cemetery.
