North Conway Public Library Winter Gala. Join the North Conway Public Library for a winter gala beginning with a champagne and dessert reception at the Eastern Slope Inn at 5:30 p.m. During the reception several unique items will be offered in a silent auction. At 7 p.m., the party will adjourn to the Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse to see a production of "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry, produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. Original music and musical arrangements are by Kevin Connors. Tickets for the event are $25 and include the reception and the play. They must be purchased in advance at the library or from a trustee. Some reception-only tickets are available as well; they are $20 and their number is limited. Art Gallery Show Opening. Jackson Art Studio & Gallery: The Many Moods of Mt Washington Valley show continues through the month of December. More than 20 local artists' interpretations of Mount Washington Valley through paintings, photography, prints, pottery, glass, jewelry and cards are on display. There will also be an artist at work. Some see what the studio is all about. The gallery is open Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

White Mountain Café and Bookstore Holiday White Mountain Authors Book Signing Event. The White Mountain Café and Bookstore at 212 Main Street, Gorham, will present its second annual White Mountain Authors book signing, from 1 to 4 pm. Worldwide Candle Lighting Service. The Compassionate Friends of Mt. Washington Valley will be participating in the annual Worldwide Candle Lighting service at 7 p.m. at the Madison Baptist Church. Candles will glow when tens of thousands of bereaved parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives, and friends around the globe will join together to light remembrance candles to honor the memories of children who have died, but will never be forgotten. Held annually the second Sunday in December, this will be the 17th Worldwide Candle Lighting sponsored by The Compassionate Friends (TCF), the nation’s largest self-help bereavement organization for families that have suffered the tragic loss of a child. The death of a child is devastating and it is very important to the families that their children always be remembered, especially during this difficult time of year. This service unites us all as we light our candles ... that their light may always shine. Breakfast With Santa. The Brownfield Historical Society will hold Breakfast With Santa at the Masonic Hall, 8-10 a.m., with pancakes, sausage, milk, juice & coffee. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for kids, and includes a free photo with Santa.
