For all the hype about social media, the best way to enhance your business and its success is to join a business organization for "face-to-face" business networking. This is especially important for small businesses trying to sell locally.

Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that participating in social media is a bad thing - not at all. I'm only saying that this should not be the only way you are interacting with your community and potential customers, especially if you’re a local business. Meeting other local business people face-to-face and thereby participating in your local community will do more to sell your goods and services that thousands of posts and tweets.

That being said, social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In, can be excellent networking tools and provide a low cost way to engage customers. The Fryeburg Business Association will be rolling out a new, state-of-the art website in a few weeks. The new site will have enhanced capabilities that will not only showcase Fryeburg, Maine but Fryeburg area businesses as well.

As with most groups of like minded people, we are stronger united than we are standing alone. When you join the Fryeburg Business Association, it becomes your strongest advocate and your voice in the local area and beyond. We talk to consumers every day and tell them why it is important to support small business. We meet with elected officials to promote your values and interests. We are currently holding ongoing meetings with the town of Fryeburg to both understand and offer advice about the challenges facing our local economy. Being an FBA member gives you a louder voice.

Whether it is talking to the media, attending a neighborhood festival, or talking to consumers in front of a local business, we the businesses that make up the FBA are on the ground every day talking to consumers about the importance of supporting local business. These consumers are potential customers, and are all being driven to the FBA website where they can find your business.

Simply stated, the core mission of the Fryeburg Business Association is to promote a positive business environment that contributes to the community and economic vitality of the Fryeburg area.
