EMERSON'S LAW OF COMPENSATION

Ralph Waldo Emerson says that The Law of Compensation is the law of laws, and I will show you that it is. This Law is also known as The Law of Cause and Effect, or The Great Law or The Law of Karma. The best way I can define compensation is what you put time and effort into is going to result in you getting something back from the universe. To improve our lives, we must first focus on and improve ourselves. Improving your character will attract people of similar character. When we do this, we can expect good to be on it’s way to us. You’re going to get back whatever effort you put into something. This law will help you when you choose to help yourself.

As Emerson says in his Law of Compensation essay, “Every act rewards itself.” What is the one thing in life that absolutely excites you? How good are you at it? How much time do you spend on it? If you have something that you really love to do, chances are you’re going to put an abundance of time into it. The more time you put into it, the more likely you’re going to be able to give and receive something back from the universe. “As you sow, so shall you reap” is the saying of this law. What you currently have in your life is a result of your past actions. However, you must provide service as well because there’s no such thing as something for nothing.

Like all of these forgotten laws, there are violations to the Law of Compensation. People are violating this law every day, yet they are unaware of it. Do you have a something-for-nothing-based consciousness? If you do, you are violating the law. Have you ever gotten “hooked up” with something for free that you were supposed to pay for? This is an example of getting something for nothing, and when you have this consciousness, be prepared for the universe to be your enemy. It will take back the money you’re holding on to by giving you some kind of expensive misfortune like a parking ticket, car accident, or higher bills to pay.

Another violation of the law is that most people do just enough just to squeeze by in life. They do just enough to pay the bills. They do just enough to get paid what they need so they can keep working jobs that they hate. This doesn’t work because when you’re like this, you’re out of harmony with the law.You must do what you love to do and be willing to go the extra mile. You’ll be so glad that you did. Chances are there is a need for what you do and people will want your service.

Another way people violate this law is that they focus on the bad in things. This attracts bad things back to them. For example, if you focus and criticize all the faults of a human being, you’re going to get back people that focus and criticize your faults. It’s so easy for people to look at the bad which is probably why most people complain about their everyday lives, talking about them with others and posting their complaints on their Facebook status. As Raymond Holliwell states on compensation in his book, “Working With the Law”, “If your thoughts are constructive and proper, you cannot remain imprisoned. If you are dissatisfied and unhappy, you will be inspired for something better. If you want prosperity and success but do not strive to change in anyway, how can you expect things to be any different?”

Have you ever heard that your house is a reflection of yourself? Well, it couldn’t be more true. When you have a dirty house filled with clutter, you’re telling the law that this is what your life is like. So you have no money? Well, that’s no excuse for having a dirty house. You can have no money but still have a clean house. More than likely, the reason for no money is due to the houses condition. In Feng Shui, clutter is your biggest enemy because it prevents energy from circulating. You must send a message to the law, and tell it that you’re in control of your life. It all starts with the way you take care of your own belongings.

''There you have the Law of Compensation, one of the most important laws in the universe that deals with the essence of God and of mankind.''
