DAC receives Arts-in-Education Funding
The Denmark Arts Center is pleased to have received a slew of grants
from various foundations from Maine and New England, to support new
Arts-in-Education programs.
Thanks to the New England Foundation for the Arts, the Maine Community
Foundation, the Kirby Family Fund, and the Morton-Kelley Charitable
Trust, the DAC will be able to offer local middle- and high-schools two
new programs this spring, free of charge.
With the support of the NEST program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, the DAC is pleased to bring Burlington, VT. dancer Lida Winfield to Denmark for a residency April 10-15. Ms. Winfield (at left) will be presenting her groundbreaking work, In Search of Air, exploring the world of dyslexia, as well as teaching workshops for both students and adults.
The DAC is thrilled to be able to bring this remarkable dancer and
educator to our corner of the world, and looks forward to an energetic
collaboration. Ms. Winfield will present her work for general audiences
at the DAC on April 11, 2015, with a concurrent workshop. We are
working to bing her to local schools the following week.
Then, later in the Spring, the DAC is pleased to be able to offer Project: Denmark,
an in-depth workshop on the art of the Documentary, targeted at local
High School students and taught by DAC artistic director (and
award-winning filmmaker) Jamie Hook. With special guests, and hands-on
learning, this documentary program will not just teach, but do.
Thanks to the Maine Community Foundation, the Morton-Kelley Charitable Foundation, and the Kirby Family Foundation for supporting this valuable program.
Together, these new programs represent something of a jump-start for the
DAC's vibrant Arts-in-Education programming, which has been dormant
these past few years. We are extraordinarily grateful for the
farsighted support of the above funding partners, and encourage anyone
who wishes to learn more about these programs to get in touch with us at

Capital Campaign Update
People of Denmark: Give
yourselves a hand! Did you know that you have collectively contributed
over $50,000 to the DAC's Capital Campaign? We couldn't be more pleased
with this result. Thanks to you, our thermometer is well over the
halfway mark (gotta get down to that DAC with some red paint....), and
we are still going good!
We'll need some help to get ourselves across the finish line, so if you
have not yet made a contribution, we encourage you to familiarize
yourselves with what we're up to here, and consider making a donation.
Or, you can do it the easy way, and come to our upcoming BEACH PARTY (see below).
