NEWS FROM DENMARK MAINE SHORTS TOMORROW! SHEEPFEST ON SATURDAY! CALLING ALL GROWNUPS! 1. MAINE SHORTS Start the spring right, with an evening of MAINE MADE films, right here at the DAC!  These fine works, from across the state, show the very best that Maine Short Filmmakers have to offer. As a special treat, one of the short films that appears here was filmed entirely within the Denmark town limits!  URSULA is a short film written, produced, and co-directed by DAC program associate Sarah Françoise, starring the young Ursula—who is often to be seen at DAC events, such as last-summer's PLACEHOLDERS dance film. MAINE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL Friday, April 17 7:30pm, $5 Suggested  2. SHEEPFEST! In 1995 a small flock of five sheep that needed to be shorn of their winter’s growth of wool was the nucleus of an idea. Two spinners invited other small flock owners to bring their sheep to the Denmark Arts Center to use the services of a master shearer.They set up displays of knitting, felting, yarn, tools for wool processing, and books and magazines and invited the public to come and see the sheep being sheared. It turned out to be a lot of fun for everyone, but no other sheep came that day. THAT WAS 20 YEARS AGO!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? CALLING ALL GROWNUPS! The Denmark Arts Center and Hio Ridge Dance are pleased to announce a new, collaborative performance program for adults aged 55 and over. Funded in part by the Maine Arts Commission's Creative Aging Initiative, this FREE program, which will be led by Denmark dancers Cookie Harrist and Delaney McDonough,offers participants the chance to craft, rehearse, and perform an original dance piece as part of the DAC's summer 2015 program.  An informational meeting will be held on Apirl 30 at the DAC.
