1. SUMMER 2015

Sumer is HERE, folks!  And with it, the DAC is pleased to dump the gamut of its ambitions on you, like sprinkles on a sundae.  To that end, we have managed to get our fabulous CALENDAR out and about, on the fine sandy, sunny streets of the Lakes Region.  If you see a copy, pick it up!  Just look for the Pink Palm Tree!

And if you don't haunt the Lakes Region, than turn your browser to our website, where all this fabulous information is up in resplendent fashion.  From Mutt Shows to Toy Theater to Figure Drawing Classes to Late Nite Madness, we're justly proud of our summer lineup, so have a gander!

2. BROTHERHOOD DANCE

This week, Brother(hood) Dance! is up from Brooklyn, NY, to partake in a residency with Hio Ridge Dance and the Denmark Arts Center.  Six incredible dancers have come together, under the direction of Ricarrdo Valentine and Orlando Hunter, to develop new material over the course of the residency. This Saturday, June 6 at 7 pm, they will share these works-in-progress at the Denmark Arts Center (50 W Main St. Denmark, ME).  Tickets are by donation.

3. CALLING ALL ARTISTS....

The DAC,with the support of the Maine Community Foundation,  is pleased to present a new program, the Artists’ Midway,  at this year’s DAM JAM.  The deadline to apply is July 1, with notification by July 6.
Applying the creative, DIY ethos of Burning Man to a family-friendly arts event in Western Maine, the Artists’ Midway offers a forum for Maine-based artists to engage with new audiences from across the state by creating temporary installations, rides, interactive experiences, and more.  Inspired by such diverse sources as Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang’s Guggenheim-installed An Arbitrary History: River, Carsten Höller’s NewMuseum-installed Experience,  Montreal-artist Chelanie Beaudin-Quintin’s Screaming Booth, and all manner of classic Carnival fare—the High Striker and the Old-Thyme Photo Booth—the Artists’ Midway is a perfect chance for you to apply your art to something fun in the sun!
We encourage all Maine artists to apply for this opportunity, which comes with both a $750 honorarium, and a materials budget, for each selected project.
More information and an applications is here.
