Poland Spring Update to the Fryeburg Community

It’s hard to believe we are already two months into the new year! I hope this finds you well.

I wanted to update you on a few items of interest about Poland Spring’s operations here in the Fryeburg area.

ü  First, we are excited about a new, company-wide emphasis on community relations. An important step in this new process is to hear what people have to say about our operations in their  town. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be conducting some one-on-one interviews with residents, neighbors and business owners to get their feedback. Listening to the community’s thoughts and feelings about Poland Spring is important and will help us understand how to be a better neighbor and corporate citizen.
ü  Second, you may have seen a recent local news story about Poland Spring’s support of Fryeburg’s public safety departments. Our Good Neighbor Grant process is one of the ways we give back to the community, and I was pleased to provide $14,000 in grants to the fire & rescue and police departments to help with equipment and other needs. In 2015, Poland Spring provided Good Neighbor Grants totaling more than $100,000 to Fryeburg-area nonprofits and causes. We are committed to being a good neighbor and are happy to invest in Fryeburg and the surrounding area.

ü  And, lastly, next month the Maine Supreme Judicial Court will hear the oral argument regarding the Food & Water Watch appeal of our PUC-approved contract with Fryeburg Water Company. Oral arguments will be heard on March 1 at 1:30 p.m. in Portland, and then it typically takes several months for the Justices to give their decision.  We continue to have faith that this legal process will affirm the PUC’s approval of our contract with the Fryeburg Water Company, a company we have had a good working relationship with since 1997.  We look forward to the Court’s decision and a continuing, positive presence in Fryeburg.

Our goal is to be open and transparent about our operations in Maine.  As always, we invite you to stop by our Fryeburg office (639 Main Street) on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m or call us at 935-1514.

Please let me know if you have questions or need more information. Thank you!

I wish you a happy and healthy 2016.
