It was an overcast day with light drizzle when your reporter pulled up to the Peabody-Fitch Farm. Caroline Grimm, Bridgton Historical Society treasurer and this summer's Naramissic docent met me in the drive. I didn't know exactly what to expect from this worn house but when I stepped across the threshold. I was impressed!
The house if full of history, of artifacts and a richness that I don't have the words to fully describe, but that is what my camera is for - to capture the light, freeze time and give you a taste - a sampling of what you'll find here.
I had a wonderful time, and my historical tour guide Caroline was one of the most knowledgeable I've met. Please enjoy the video above and the still photos below but I strongly encourage to see Naramissic in person. You'll be very happy you did! The history and story telling make any trip worth the trek to Narramissic, The Peabody-Fitch Farm (1797) in beautiful Bridgton, Maine.
Narramissic Hours of Operation
July & August: Tuesday-Saturday, 1-4, and by appointment or chance. Closed mid-October - June. Enjoy the grounds and the self-guided hike to the quarry any time during daylight hours.
