DENMARK, Maine — Despite concerns from vocal residents who sought a six-month delay, selectmen Tuesday approved a five-year renewal of Poland Spring's water extraction permit in the town. However, they did take some steps to improve transparency of Poland Spring's activity in town.

The production facility on Cold Spring Drive in West Denmark supplies spring water for bottling at plants in places like Hollis and Poland, Maine. The water is piped to a facility in East Fryeburg off Route 302, where it is loaded into trucks. This keeps the trucks out of residential areas in Denmark.
