The Fryeburg Business Association has been saved. Below are some details of what recently took place.
(Source: The FBA website.)
''[the previous leadership] Made the decision to turn the leadership and governance over to Holly Foster, Donna Woodward, Kimberly Clarke, Steve Chase and Jim Tyrell. The will officially take over at the New Year and will communicate with the members as to their plans and membership dues requests.
During the discussion at the last Board meeting the member business represented stated that they did not wish the Fryeburg Businesses Association to be disbanded and the funds raised given over to the town as was being considered by the Board. They felt strongly that the Association should remain in the private sector, run by member representatives of local businesses.
However, they did agreed that the town’s Economic Development Committee could play an important role in bringing new business into the community, marketing the area as a tourism destination with the support of the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and continually reviewing the Business Friendly aspect of the town’s policies and ordinances.
They felt that the number of board meetings and events the Association sponsored may need to be reduced and that the strict interpretation of Roberts Rules of Order that was used to prevent member businesses from having a voice at meetings should be reviewed.
The official transition will take place after the 10th of January so that David Chaffee, Past President and Janice Crawford, Admin can provide a comprehensive training for the new leadership to carry forward.
The board of directors thank all of the members who have supported the organization through the years and wish you well in the future. The Economic Development Committee would like more members so if you have an interest fill out your application at the Town Office.''
David Chaffee, Outgoing President
