FRYEBURG, Maine - Yes, Food & Water Watch's Nisha Swinton (New England 'Organizer') has claimed victory! Over what? FREE ENTERPRISE. Read my previous editorial and then read the 'Victory' letter....I'd have to classify this as a propaganda $$-FUNDRAISING-$$ letter! From the previous editorial: ''Food & Water Watch's long-term mission is to challenge the economic (Capitalism) and political forces (Democracy) that are promoting industrialized (Corporate) food production and the 'commodification' (Food &Water Watch has chosen this code word well; to wit: The Marxist understanding of commodity is distinct from the meaning of commodity in mainstream business theory. Commodity played a key role throughout Karl Marx' life work, he considered it a form of capitalism and a key starting point for an analysis of this politico-economic system) of the oceans and fresh water sources.''
This organization, who's back agenda is decidedly anti-free enterprise, is meddling in Fryeburg's democratic process. Do we want that?

Dear Mike,
I wanted to let you know about a huge victory this week for Mainers everywhere who want to keep water in public hands.
As many of you may know, we have been involved in a legal battle for years to fight a contract between Nestlé and the Fryeburg Water Company. This contract would bind the two companies into a 25–45 year agreement — meaning that the people of Fryeburg may not have control over their water until the year 2058. To make matters worse, the case was being overseen by a commissioner who used to work for Nestlé, so the odds were stacked against us from the start.
But yesterday, the hard work that you and the amazing community of Fryeburg have been doing finally paid off. The former Nestlé employee removed himself from the decision-making process because of his past involvement with Nestlé. This is HUGE! It means that we've leveled the playing field, and that the case will be suspended until further notice.
The battle is not over yet — we're gearing up to fight hard for the Fryeburg public's right to water. Your contribution today will allow us to continue to fight to put water in public hands.
Thanks for all you've done to make this victory possible!
Onward,
Nisha Swinton

Our Mission
Food & Water Watch works to ensure the food, water and fish we consume is safe, accessible and sustainably produced. So we can all enjoy and trust in what we eat and drink, we help people take charge of where their food comes from, keep clean, affordable, public tap water flowing freely to our homes, protect the environmental quality of oceans, force government to do its job protecting citizens, and educate about the importance of keeping the global commons — our shared resources — under public control(governmental).
Our Vision
We envision a world where all people(the collective - socialism) have access to enough affordable, healthy, and wholesome food and clean water to meet their basic needs — a world in which governments are accountable to their citizens and manage essential resources sustainably.
